meet the team
Bruce and Katherine are a husband and wife team who practice together as well as independently. We are in the process of writing books and initiating a podcast of our own parenting and grandparenting ideas and experiences, called Practice Makes Parenting, as well as other topics such as relationships, family, direct service, and psycho-social health/education. We are both youngest children in our original families, so we like to have fun and be creative in our work!
We have been married for over 40 years and are the parents of two healthy, grown children and five wonderful grandchildren. Our favorite activities, along with being together, are spending time with our family and supporting others in cultivating healthy families. We understand and have empathy for today's concerns and challenges, and enjoy guiding people through and beyond their difficulties. We celebrate family in its many forms, appreciating the job of parenting as one of the most perplexing, yet also most enjoyable activities people can partake in. We emphasize human development, and support the whole person - body, mind, and spirit - within the context of social interests and culture.
We both have Master of Arts in Counseling degrees from St. Martin’s University; both are Licensed Mental Health Counselors in Washington State and Maine, as well as Nationally Board Certified Counselors; and both have served as counselors, teachers, and parent educators. Combined, we have over 80 years of human service experience, working with thousands of people in a broad range of age groups. In the past, Katherine served as home visitor and in healing arts, and Bruce in legal and government affairs. We are passionate about assisting in developing healthy relationships and families, as well as inspiring and training others in related fields. We look forward to working with clients as lives and relationships become transformed!

we believe:
*Everyone needs support sometimes.
*Healthy social life is an art that can be taught and learned.
*Having knowledge about human development can really help.
*Striving to thrive can be difficult, but it is never a waste of time.
*Pain, goals, and changes are what often propel people into new territory – we hope to provide caring support and practical guidance along the way.
