parenting groups and
home consultations

We offer cyclical educational/support groups to respectful people with group social skills, who are raising or nurturing children - from pregnancy to empty nest - in Washington State. The groups give parents the opportunity to network with and develop support systems with each other, as well as to gather useful information and tools for the challenges of parenting.

We open each individual group with issues and ideas on the minds of the parents present, then launch into a theme for that session, covering - with presentations, small group exercises, and circle work - such topics as: the use and practice of effective positive discipline; the significance of daily routines and habits for healthy development; stress reduction; in-laws, holidays, media, and toys; creating rules and responsibility for children in safe, family-friendly environments; dealing with hardships, conflicts, and other difficulties; being attached and letting go; and the importance of love respect, and communication in  families.

Themes, exercises and experiences will change, as will the needs and hopes of the group, while the basic format and enjoyable experience for all in the groups will be consistent. Bruce and Katrina are experienced parent educators and counselors, who have trained and consulted others on conducting parenting groups, and who are committed to holding a respectful tone and structure in the groups.

We also offer home consultations in the Northwest to current clients when we determine a need for such and when parents are requesting this. We set up appointments to visit homes, then come in as a team to observe and give thoughtful, constructive feedback about specific concerns the parent wants to work on with the child or family.
